Nursing care is human work. Yet more and more, that human work stands or falls with technology. Amstelring’s care providers work across residential homes, nursing homes, group homes, and community nursing. Wherever they are, they need secure access to client data. Not now and then, but always.

The demand for connectivity stopped coming from staff alone a long time ago. Residents share information with the care team through their own devices and simply expect to be online, just like at home. Visitors add extra pressure on top of that every day. Three user groups, one network, zero room to compromise on security or availability.

A network that doesn’t slow care down

The existing corporate network wasn’t built for this reality. Capacity, speed, and reliability all fell short of what the organization needed, let alone what was coming. Amstelring was exploring smart-home solutions and wanted to use resident information to improve day-to-day care. Every innovation would ask more of the network.

On top of that came the healthcare context. Client data has to be securely available to internal staff, and where permitted and necessary, to external care providers as well. A network overhaul across more than twenty live care locations can’t affect care for a single moment. From a network that held things back to a network that creates room: that was the assignment.

Test first, then build

In healthcare, you don’t go live on hope. That’s why our network specialists tested every connection and link in advance, in our own test lab and then again on site. Only once everything demonstrably worked did the rollout follow. Location by location, without disrupting care.

That thoroughness isn’t caution for caution’s sake. It’s the reason an overhaul of this size went smoothly. Our network specialists ran the project and have been working with Amstelring since 2011. That long-standing knowledge of the organization and of the healthcare sector paid off at every phase.

All of Amstelring’s locations now run on one modernized network infrastructure. Staff have secure access to client information wherever they are. Residents and visitors are online without ever touching the care network. Separated where it has to be, seamless where it can be.
